It is conveniently located on the bus route and is near various grocery and department stores, as well as being in the downtown cultural hub. Ansonborough House is located at 71 Society Street in downtown Charleston,
SC. It was built in 1984, and funded by Section 8-202, as a mid-rise apartment complex for seniors 62 and older who meet certain income guidelines.
A six-story apartment complex, there are five floor plans with one- or two- bedroom apartments. Every unit has a full kitchen, great room, walk-in utility closet, separate bedroom & bath, and ample closet space.
Located adjacent to the Charleston Area Senior Center, all 77 apartments are equipped with 24-hour emergency call button service as well as security and fire monitoring service.
Ansonborough House has an in-house laundry facility and food mart, and offers recreational activities, trips and case management services. This enables residents to live comfortably and independently.

Rent for Ansonborough House residents vary depending on individual income.
This is a special program offered to Ansonborough House residents.
Residents may shop weekly in the FREE Food Mart, located on the 6th floor.
A variety of free items are available including cereals, canned goods, frozen meat, cleaning supplies, paper products, and over-the-counter medications. Residents can choose up to 20 pounds of goods each month.
Hot coffee and delicious pastries are available every morning in our atrium lobby on the main floor. This is a lovely way for neighbors to gather for coffee and conversation. Music is provided all day in our Atrium.
